Another Flyfoot

I've been on a roll lately.  Finished another block this evening.

This block was made in CW Reproduction fabrics.  Not sure which one I like better the batik one or this one.  I love bright colors, but I really like the color of this fabric too.  There are five more blocks to go if I want to make two separate quilts.  I have an idea, but I'm not telling.  I'll have to lay all of the blocks out on the bed when I get done with the other five and go from there.....

Batik Flyfoot Block

It was raining earlier this morning.  Decided it would be a good day to stay inside and do some handpiecing or crocheting.  I finished my Flyfoot block and got the CW reproduction one cut out.

Rain, rain, go away.....

I'm just kidding!!!  LOL!!!  I love the rain even though I get tired of it after a few days.  It's just spitting outside for now.  Hope it waits until after I get to work before it downpours.

I got up early this morning and finished the hst's for the Flyfoot block.  The results of having insomnia.  It's one of the blocks for the batik quilt that I'm handpiecing.  I started the batik quilt at the same time as I as the CW quilt along with some really nice ladies on a quilting forum.  I'm way behind.  Try a couple of years or so behind.  As I always say, better late than never!

Here's another flower for the baby quilt.

The pattern called it a round flower.  I think that it looks a little like a rose.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

One Daisy Down

Here is the first flower for the purple afghan that I made.  It's a daisy.

I found the flower on the Red Heart yarn website under their free patterns.  The flower is from the April Flowers Wreath.  I used a bobble stitch for the center instead of attaching a button.  Wouldn't want the little one to choke on a button.

Lady of the Lake

This is my Lady of the Lake block.  I'm so glad I got this block finished tonight.  What should have been easy was a pain in the butt to do.  Cut the hst's by the pattern and was off by 1".  I cannot sew scant 1/4" seam whether it be by hand or machine.  Cut some more out.  Had some what was I thinking moments when doing the cutting.  Cut out too many hst's for a second time.  More scraps.....sigh....

On a brighter note....I got started on making the flowers for the baby afghan plus I cut out the hst's for a Flyfoot block.  I cut them bigger than the pattern called for.  Lesson learned.  =)

The picture below is the beginnings of a daisy.  I'll have to figure out something for all the centers of the flowers.  The pattern has buttons for centers.  I think they are cute.  Little ones don't need to get a hold of buttons.  I have an idea, but you will have to wait and see what I come up with.  =)

Almost Done!!!

Finished the border tonight.  The afghan measures approximately 44"x37".  Not exactly how I envisioned it.  I think it turned out good though.  Now all I need to do is find some crocheted flowers and crocheted leaf patterns that I saved on Pinterest.

Current Projects

This is the fabric that I'm going to use in the Lady of the Lake quilt block.  Got it all cut out before I had to be at work yesterday morning.  I didn't get to work on this during my lunch hour yesterday.  Had to run and get some yarn for the afghan that I am currently working on.

The lighter yarn is what I started with.  I had no idea what size I was going to make this afghan, so, I didn't buy two jumbo skeins of it.  Bad idea!!!  They discontinued the yarn at one Wal-Mart.  Went to another one.  They had some mauve.  Bought two of the jumbo skeins on clearance.

Got another afghan started.  Decided that I didn't want to take forever in getting the afghan finished.  I'm already behind!

Off I traipse to Hancock's Fabric for yet another shopping excursion.  This time I brought the afghan with me.  I had seen some purple yarn of the same kind and color as the first jumbo skein of yarn when I went to Hancock's on a previous shopping mission.  Alas, no match.  It was a shade different even though there was no dye lot.

I had to hurry up and decide what shade of purple yarn I wanted to go with the lighter colored purple.  I was on lunch and had to hurry up and get back to work plus stop and get something to eat.  After a few minutes of walking back and forth, I chose a darker purple yarn for an ombre look.

I came up with another idea as I am sitting here typing this up.  It will involve some frogging.  I'm going to make a border out of the dark purple instead of just continuing the way that I was doing.

I'm thinking of crocheting some flowers and add to a corner of the afghan.  I might have to do a bit of embroidery too....we'll see.
